Honorees were determined by a selection committee made up of last year's Access Awards recipients.

Governor Patrick congratulated the Access Awards honorees and then surprised the audience with the proclamation of the first "Latino Media Day" in Massachusetts.

The celebration continued with an amusing performance of Louis Ortiz, actor and Obama impersonator, who highlighted the importance of new media to showcase the Latino talent. "I was interviewed in Washington DC by a TV host of a show that is produced in Boston, was edited in Dallas, clip was uploaded in YouTube and watched by a booking agent in Miami, and then link to video was emailed to producers in Korea who later took me overseas to film a commercial there! That's the power of the new media!"

Gio Williams, music/producer/songwriter, will perform at the Access Awards to present the official Boston Latino TV theme of 2009. The song, and adaptation of Emilio Stephan production "Te Quiero Ver", will be featured on BNN and also during the Access Awards pre and post-coverage.
